Reporters investigating these places need to understand, first and foremost, what happens to these kids when they act out. What happens when they won't go to bed?; when they won't do their chores?; when they lash out and throw a tennis ball through a window? What's the procedure?

I like who I am and what I know because of what I've lived through. Not sure I'd want an easier life. I know a lot of boring people who don't know shit.

So who knows? It's part of who you are. But separating children from parents when there are even slightly willing parents—let alone enthusiastic ones—is horrific. Research seems to show that kids do better even with abusive parents (within limits) than group care/foster care.
