I mean, of course Facebook (and Google) should be questioned about all this (they are the tech giants and no way are they unaware of all this) but this goes from all the devices to the chips in so many of things with hardcoded passwords, no updates to firmware, etc.

It has crappy security partly because you and I and everybody else don't want to pay for security when we make our purchasing decisions. If Startup ZYX made a truly secure router, it would cost <bignum> more than the competition and die a quick business death.
