Yep. Most writing advice and “coaching” is a bit like the how to make money in real estate (or bitcoin! Or whatever!) advice. It’s good business for the “coach”. If you like external motivation, team up with friends. No need to pay money unless you like donating to that person.https://twitter.com/devjpow/status/1003744819355815937 …

Writing "secrets": 1-There's no shortcut to edit/rewrite/edit/rewrite. Accept this and do it! 2-Clarity of ideas and something to say is the bedrock of writing and no coach will solve that. If you have money to burn, donate to refugee support? Take that good feeling, and write.

No, no, no. I swear I'm not fishing for compliments but I am NOT a good or natural writer. English is not even my native language! I went through the "what's trick find me a coach" phase. Then I met and learned from real writers. They do what I said above.https://twitter.com/dubiousraves/status/1003984999631196160 …

Rigid writing advice/coaching, crash diet industry, real estate webinars... The only exception I would make is hiring a fitness trainer if you’re starting out—just to show you what good form looks like. But do vigorously ignore all rigid writing advice.

yeah, good sentences for me are rewritten sentences... expecting things to turn out perfect on the first try is where I get into trouble
-
Also what also helps me write is realising that just like a good conversation with a friend can enlighten you even regarding your own point... let the writing procedure wrestle with you to make the best job possible of explaining what you mean

Sound advice, My best approach to counteracting massive anxiety/PTSD is to balance academic writing, exercise, and twitter/facebook distraction. But I've only been able to do that during the summer the last couple years.
