Parkland killer says "When you see me on the news you’ll know who I am." Shame on every news organization that's publishing this snuff film. He killed those students so you would. We have more than enough research: you're inspiring the next killer. Enough.https://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/27/opinion/the-virginia-shooter-wanted-fame-lets-not-give-it-to-him.html …

At this point, there is little mystery. Many school and other mass shooters are motivated by infamy, have too easy access to guns, and mass media continuies to oblige them. They're obsessed with body count, too, because it makes mass media even more likely to do their bidding.

The ask is not a blackout. Responsible reporting. I don't mind the name being reported, but not on loop. Say it once, move on. Don't post their manifesto as is—that's not news judgement. Don't put their face, snuff film or manifesto on loop, on front page. https://twitter.com/jay_shapiro/status/1002158384811044864 …

Ironically, I've been seeing restraint among many ordinary people. These killers are not after marginal fame, or reddit. They want to be on CNN, Washington Post, NYTimes, Fox, USA Today. And they're getting what they want, on their murderous terms. https://twitter.com/jay_shapiro/status/1002159832114368513 …
