Our old system didn’t “verify” much except that a channel had 100k subs. This change lets us make verification more helpful for people trying to find the official channel of the creator they’re looking for. You can always appeal too & we’ll take a look before the change happens.

Verifying that a channel had 100k subs is a very important thing however, it helps prevent impostors from pretending to be them and reuploading their videos, & from trying to trick people with "giveaway" links in comments. If a channel has 100k subs then it isn't an impersonator.

I get that, but even official channels are getting the verification stamps away, even if it's their original content. How does that make sense?
