@zedshaw how come oil is so much more difficult, just harder to work with or is drying time longer?
Switching back to pastels today for painting outside. Oil paint is fun and all but man is it a huge time suck. Need to change it up.

@karl_grz With pastels you just pick out the colors and go. With watercolor you just mix watery pigment which is much faster. - 2 more replies

@zedshaw I have a set of questions I ask myself when I'm findng mixing difficult. They mostly boil down to 'how is this different to that?' -
@DianaProbst The use of pastels is more one of expediency to practice landscapes than any kind of pain with using oil.

@zedshaw I tend to paint with three, one for each tone, but that can expand really quickly. -
@DianaProbst Do you mix with a brush? Do you pre-mix before painting? - 1 more reply

@zedshaw You know my tiny ISB watercolour pencil case? I'm making one from a bigger drive that will fit a minimalist oil set. -
@DianaProbst Hilarious. Well I'll write up what you'd need for painting outside sometime in the future. - 1 more reply
