There's lots of wishy washy content on HTML5 semantic elements like section and article, but I'm looking for some solid information on whether it makes any practical difference from div and div. Any pointers?

The mistake they made is to treat custom tags as having the same priority as standard tags like div, p, and h1. A selector on a standard tag should be low priority, but on a custom tag it should be the same as div=class of the same name.

So it kind of doesn’t matter if it saves time, looks better, or any other argument. It simply doesn’t work or help compared to div because you still have to slap a class on every tag anyway.
