I believe we’ll realize that the 2000, and 2008 economic collapses caused tremendous trauma to an entire generation, maybe two. Most BPD is from past trauma and frequently causes black-and-white us-vs-them thinking and taking any offense as the worst hatred of an enemy.

The tragic mistake is then putting a group of well meaning people with BPD—an illness notorious for distorting a person’s perception of perceived offenses and self-control issues—in charge of punishing people for behaviorial offenses:https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5362343/ …

That means, if you’re in a community that has rules of behavior, but no process for fair enforcement, then look at the people in charge of the punishments. Could they have Borderline Personality Disorder? Do they brutally destroy someone over minor things? Probably BPD then.

IMO a lot of the black and white thinking is due to disinformation campaigns. Large amounts of uncertainty leads to bizarre behaviour, similar to what researchers found in the Market for Lemons https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Market_for_Lemons …

See, if you go look at most major disinformation that worked it happened *after* a major social trauma. I think disinformation is constant, and mostly ignored until the general population has experienced trauma. This combined with new communication medium and TADA! Fascism.
