I’m seriously considering getting the Sony PS5 when it comes out, but I’m wondering if it’s better to wait a few months. What’s the verdict from current PlayStation owners? Better to wait until they work the kinks out or usually good quality on first runs?

I haven't paid much attention to the new generation, but the new xbox is supposed to have more power than the Playstation. They made sure of that. Unreal Engine 5 demo being on Playstation was just a marketing trick.
I'll be getting an XBox b/c I always have gotten them. I don't really care much about graphics. For me it comes down to online services. Others care about exclusives as well, but I haven't really played many exclusive games other than Nintendo.
I voted for Xbox because you should get it for Xbox Game Pass. Best money I have ever spent on games. If you are really into those PS exclusives though that won't help. That demo would also run on Xbox they have said as much but couldn't due to marketing money.
