It’s a good reminder that the reason Minneapolis is disbanding their police force is because the police union refused to be part of the solution. What Minneapolis is doing is disbanding their LEU by the only means available to them.https://twitter.com/zedshaw/status/1269960396066209792 …

Yup. It’s going to be the only solution until states start passing laws banning LEUs. I predict California will never though. Their doublespeak on police is astounding. There’s even special laws protecting only police from police.

I’m not sure the labor movement will be able to internalize the idea of a “harmful union”. It’s a bit antithetical to their history.

Did you know that the basis of National Socialism is the idea that those in power (aka the Nation) deserve the same socialist protections as the proletariat? Cops are the Nation. Allowing them to unionize is National Socialism, as in literally the definition of Nazism by Hitler.

There’s a book: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/188378.The_Anatomy_of_Fascism … Talks about how Hitler sold Nazism to the conservative gov at the time as an alternative to Marxism and Socialism and the way they can keep power.

I’ll check it out. Understanding the mechanics of how fascism inches back seems very germane.

I read it and many books when researching pervasive authoritarianism in open source. Once you take away the idea that authoritarianism is only about a single leader (Hitler) you start to see its structures more easily.
