Allow me to explain why this lens and camera combination is easily worth 2x that price: 1. I have the original Fuji 50GFX and it's massive. The 50R is the same sensor/software in a 80% package. 2. I have another lens similar to the 50mm and it's easily 2x the size.

I also paid full price for them years ago and they are definitely great cameras and lenses, so the idea that they're selling a 60% smaller setup for $1500 off with the same quality sensor and lens sort of pisses me off. My issue with the original format was travel size.

My prediction is that Fuji is coming out with a small version of their new 100GFX camera, and they're getting rid of old stock, but 50MP is definitely fine for 95% of humans for the next 10 years. If you want to see how detailed that is, here's a sample: https://zedshaw.art/#/art/6/

This is a 50MP photo (cropped for the painting frame so maybe like 45MP) jpeg format, and if you wait for it to download (webtorrent) you can then click the Zoom button and zoom in to see the paint texture like this: https://zedshaw.art/#/art/6/ For art photos that's what you want.

I *so* want one of these. But my hobby these days, apparently, is buying camera equipment I don't have time to use.

Me too, but I use mine quite a lot to go with my painting obsession. I do need to sell off this Fuji I have. It's an awesome camera, but my needs have switched to travel and video requirements and the Olympus E-M1mkiii fits better. But, you know BH will do trade ins right?
