First step is a quick drawing in black paint. I use thinner and some liquin sonit dries quick, but also because ivory black can crack and the liquin makes it durable. The panel is toned gray already. I *might* try doing this with the palette knife.pic.twitter.com/LR76PtOgcw
First step with the palette knife is to get the basic shapes in. I went a little more detailed than I normally would with thos process, but next is to refine each big shape with increasing smaller inner shapes for details.pic.twitter.com/UrM5SNezpz
Well crap! I thought I used a painting gel that dries fast, but I should have known because it didn't smell like a burning tire. It will probably dry *quicker* but I wanted it dry today so I can work on it before the farang go bad. I might just do a little more then stop.
I had to finish this palette knife sunflower painting today before the fruit went totally rotten. The paint on the first past isn’t dry so it’s just going to be messy. This is the lower half finished.pic.twitter.com/shBr5f23Of
And finished it in one more sitting. I mostly left the sunflowers along since they looked fine on the first pass. The vase is really what I’m amazed at. I tried this same vase with a knife and didn’t get this close.pic.twitter.com/g2gPfjwyrT
Final photo of the Sunflowers and Farang painting. 11x14 in oil with a palette knife. I’ll let this dry, varnish it, and do a more official photo in a few days.pic.twitter.com/l14sSJVCJw
