Also on that sed to add the .mp4 you can do ${filename%%.*}.mp4 there’s a ton of transforms on file names like this in bash.

It's not bash but POSIX, that's why I don't use things such as `set -euo pipefail`. Thanks for the insights!

Really? Looks like a lot of bash features being used but check what it supports, or just run bash to get some nicer features for handling the line endings. The main reason to avoid that sed/mp4 trick it fails in weird ways while %% always works.
