There is no clinical study worldwide that states that those consumer masks word. Bit there are studies, that using the masks wrong are havin a nehative impact. And they may lead you to ignore social distancing because you feel too safe.

And back to your original post: the @WHO claimed that the medical masks (not diy) are for medical workers. On April, 6th there still was a worldwide short of those kind of medical equipment. Please do not put information out of context.
