Riiiight. Dude sits down at a computer for like an hour and knows what the Quantum Python does. Bullshit. He wouldn’t even be in the git repo by then. Probably would wank over his Emacs settings for three days.

What? Alright so Sergey apparently steals the code on his...watch? After beijg there for a single day? And a fat old security guard can wrestle him to the ground and slowly put a plastic bag over his head? What a load of crap. Geez thanks for making this not a mystery at all.

So now his girlfriend has to solve the “mystery”. Hahahaha. Cops: “So he went to the secret Devs gold floating building in the woods?” Yes. Cops: “Hmmmmmm wow we literally can’t think of anything sinister about that. He must have ran away.”

I will say though I can see a bunch of liberal libertarian California startup coders not contacting the police and trusting the company completely. Valley coders would eat turd sandwiches if their company said they were healthy.

I will predict something about timhis show I also noticed in Silicon Valley: Despite San Francisco’s status as a hot bed of sex clubs and sexual liberation you will not see a single programmer having sex, going to a sex club, or anything like that. They’ll be celibate prudes.

On just a basic mystery story plot design DEVS is pathetic. You know the mystery already, when they could have started it after his death. The motive for the killing is dumb. Nobody would risk it all to kill the dude when they can just take his watch and have him arrested.

Oh come on. So the protagonist is an elite crypto coder who can’t crack the crypto on a phone and has to go to her ex boyfriend to do it? Of course that guy is an angry nerd “nice guy” so he says no. A scene entirely designed to cast both characters in a bad light.

Now the evil nerd CEO has a CCTV video of Sergey setting himself on fire...which would leave DNA evidence but sure...everyone just trusts the grainy night video from 500m away.

I will say, if a bunch of engineers were to design a murder cover up plot this is exactly the kind of over complicated bullshit they would do. It’s like the Java AbstractFactoryFactory of murders.

So far DEVS seems to taking “Nerd are Robots” approach to nerd bashing. That’s a good strategy because the market is already saturated with “Nerds Are Weird Dorks” tropes from Big Bang Theory and Silicon Valley. Let’s see how long for someone to really smile and laugh.

Dammit girl it’s an ancient iPhone! Root that shit and use the quantum gold computer to crack the app’s data. It’s probably an encrypted SQLite3 database with a password he has to memorize so probably a piece of cake for THE COMPUTER OF GOOOOOOLD.

Ok the only normal person in the show is the ex boyfriend. He plays video games, has emotions, and is even rocking a beard! You know how rare it is for hollywood to give an Asian man a beard?

Alright the plot holes are expanding fast. Sergey is a Russian spy, so by offing him they will bring real deadly Russian GRU types to come. If they were as smart as the show claims they would have fed him junk information to feed back to the Russians..or just for him.

Finally, Lily cracked the app and is meeting with the Russian handlers of Sergey. They meet by the Golden Gate bridge and there’s tons of fog so definitely filmed in SF. That’s a nice touch. If I was going to film a nerd hate show I’d film it in SF too.

Alright I thought maybe they just don’t know how to write humans and that’s why all the coders are robots but nope, the homeless guy character is pretty funny and normal.

Oh come on! Old security guy is going to kill the Russian GRU spy? What an epic load of bullshit. If security dude is so up on the fucking spies then why the fuck did he let Sergey into the DEVS team? Massive hole.

At least Russian spy can fight, but we’ll see if he kills security guy or if we’ve got another Impossibly Deadly bad guy. You know, the killer who seems to be able to kill everyone and read minds with no explanation about how he does it.
