Given that level of stupidity, I think any supposed "expert" tossing out estimates instead of reporting actual current numbers needs to be fucking fired. It doesn't help anyone and is only done to make that researcher some cash. I also think there's an age component:
I'm going to bet if you did a meta-analysis of the estimates researchers put out of world infection over 2 years you'll find a positive correlation between age and estimate. I'm going to bet you their estimate is 1/2 their age. Someone who's 80 thinks 40% of the world, etc.

I suspect a lot of the people searching for corona beer virus are trying to learn about an article that claimed a large number of people won’t buy corona beer (without claiming it but clearly with the idea to make us think they are saying it) due to coronavirus.
So, you can count me among people who searched for that (or something similar), not because I thought there was a link, but because I wanted to learn the details behind this article a lot of people were sharing.
