Estimates by one epidemiologist are that 40-70% of the people in the *world* will get it, but I call complete bullshit. They had the same kind of thing about SARS and it wasn't even close. Meanwhile, Ebola really was an insanely deadly disease and these same people were silent.

Given that level of stupidity, I think any supposed "expert" tossing out estimates instead of reporting actual current numbers needs to be fucking fired. It doesn't help anyone and is only done to make that researcher some cash. I also think there's an age component:
I'm going to bet if you did a meta-analysis of the estimates researchers put out of world infection over 2 years you'll find a positive correlation between age and estimate. I'm going to bet you their estimate is 1/2 their age. Someone who's 80 thinks 40% of the world, etc.

Lots of things still uncertain, but at a death rate of even 1%, if 60% of the population get it, that's 480k dead people in Germany alone. And the way the US handles the virus right now...get to South Korea asap...
Yeah, and I say numbers above 10% world wide infection are bullshit. These same people didn't run around claiming these numbers for Ebola and Ebola has 25x the infection rate and 25-90% fatality rate.

SARS totally got out of Asia and was all over, and they had it in Canada and everyone there thought they were all going to die with all the same doomsday freaks and nope, didn't happen. Not even close.
An insanely deadly disease has the big advantage, that the carrier doesn't get far. A disease like this one which is a light one for 80% is much easier to spread all around the globe. And it is hard for the remaining 20%, many need ICU to survive.
So while it's complete idiocy to link Corona beer, it is not easy. Yes, it will kill elderly, but many, because exponential growth is quick, and ICUs don't grow on trees (and only the Chinese have enough of them in stock to fly them all to Wuhan).
