If it's federated and that other site has a timeline API and I can address that with dude@mastodon.social, then I should never have to talk to fucking http://mastodon.social . I just enter them into *MY* pleroma instance and magic happens. No, I have to go over there?
Yeah the Fediverse is a load of garbage. I can easily post, but I could knock that out pretty quick by myself. I want to follow someone, so what do I have to do.... uhhh GO TO ___THEIR__ PAGE then click a follow then get an obscure error I can't fix. Fuuuuuccck that.

Then when I go over there and tell mastodon to talk to me, I just get a "Can't get the required redirect" with no help figuring out why. Obviously I have something configured wrong, but it's probably something minor I can fix IF I HAD THE ERROR LOGS. Nope, just FU dude.

So my take on the fediverse is it's a bunch of people telling you it's better than twitter who then designed a federated protocol that requires me to go over to *their* fucking server to access publicly federated information. You just invented a more complex centralized server.

I think this is why most of the docs and videos I find just kind of skip over how you actually follow. They know this part is total garbage so they just punt and say "use http://mastodon.social LOL" which again is *NOT A FEDERATED SYSTEM*. Here's what I want:

I want to go to *my* Pleroma instance and never ever look at your fucking server and then I want to enter: dude@masturbaton.social and Dude's stuff start showing up on my server. Done. End. That's all. It's fucking RSS people. That's federated. So, this most likely will die.

What utter garbage. So, if you can't follow from the obtuse weird OAuth security nightmare with silent fail that is the Mastodon follow, you can search for another person in Pleroma search and follow from there....then wait while it...Requests to follow? WTF? No, not federated.

on my pleroma instance, i typed "zedshaw" in the search bar at the top, and you showed up. this is likely because you had a conversation with someone i already follow. anyway, clicking on the follow button in the search results worked; i now follow you.

Yes, after 2 days of debugging the wire protocol to see that a single field in a domain name redirect was wrong, then dumping the SQL database, using sed to remove that mistake, and reinstalling the database.
