I mean why not just walk around handing out hundreds at the voting booths? Probably would be cheaper and buy you the same votes from the same voters you were going to get anyway.https://twitter.com/BernieSanders/status/1217863111472025600 …

Promising to cancel student loan debt is only serving to piss off the poor who had such shitty schools they couldn't even go to college. It's handing money to relatively wealthy people who would have voted Democrat anyway, and alienating people who can't even get a degree.

+1. It's not even about who would vote for him, instead it's handing a subsidy to many folks who don't need it but would take it in any event (see tax breaks for the wealthy). The real evil is the price of education, especially given the costs in delivering it today.

Exactly, and you point out a huge hypocrisy: All the people who rail against the wealthy not paying taxes would totally take $150k free tax break. Then the next generation just pays the same crazy high prices for college or just doesn't bother.

Sadly, transferring costs to the next generation seems to be The American Way. Environmental costs, healthcare, housing and college seem to be the big ones.

I'd say that's the boomer way. Seriously, look at the demographics of who benefits from this transference and it's always a boomer.
