Raising Dion is pretty damn good, but you seriously have to get past the first 10 minutes of fucking terrible 1980's sitcom level bullshit writing. Ja'Siah Young and Sammi Haney totally save the show and are easily the best actors, but if you watch it at first you will barf.

Then for a good 2 episodes it's tough to shake this opening. It gives the whole show a 1980's sitcom vibe and a cutsie tutsie feel like it's an episode of Growing Pains with minor super powers. Ja'Siah Young's performance saves the show though as he manages to pull the show back

So I find it interesting that the Raising Dion starts off with a terrible formulaic sitcom tone, proceeds with this tone, and it's the acting of a young hilariously authentic boy who brings the show back to be more real and interesting.
