      What the hell. Minerva's studio has to shut down and find a new place: https://www.wsj.com/articles/beloved-manhattan-art-studio-draws-to-a-close-11564096781 … It was one spot for about 20 years then moved to the current place and only lasted 3 years. Rent is too high and most likely it won't come back.

      I'd attended Minerva's sessions a few times after getting into painting and always found it was unpretentious and easy going. I got into the figure and portraits there more than most any other place, even though I only went a few times.

      I stopped going for a while and went into an abusive "Classical Realism" school that mostly just made me feel like I was a loser for not banging out a photo rendering in 2 hours. I'd mostly stopped doing portraits and figures, even self-portraits despite loving them.

      Then this year I went to NYC to attend an art class for a week and the class got canceled. I didn't want to waste the trip so I hunted Minerva's new location down and attended sessions all week. It completely restored my love of portraits and figures in one week.

          After that week I got my art confidence back and kind of feel I brushed off the last vestiges of that Fascist bullshit from Classical Realism. I could draw and paint just fine, and Minerva’s studio helped me see that because she’s just nicer.
