Season 2 ended with a bizarre situation where Leo had a kill switch for robots with a kill device. For some reason the robot Mia with the kill switch went with him, then got shut down, and it was used as a lame reason to plunge the world into chaos bringing the robots to life.

My take on the show is it's written by a people who only had a Junior College level of philosophy and only remember the fake train switch "moral choice" and totally missed all that talk about what is reality or consciousness. It's as if any real depth is beyond them.

It's also annoying because it's as if the internet doesn't exist except when they want to show a human on the internet. The synths are constantly surprised of new events, when reality would be they'd be fully informed. There would be no shocking news ever.

The show also missed a huge opportunity in season 3 by not including the digital AI named V. It just disappears and plays no role later even though it's a huge development. It could have been a secret ally of the synths, but nope. Again, the writes probably can't think that far
