Hey #InfoSec, if someone wanted to get started in the field looking for a career and had just completed Learn Python the Hard Way (so very much a total beginner) where should they start? What‘s the LPTHW for InfoSec?

I'm not a good person to answer this. All of my security knowledge came from being an old school Linux dude who was attacked by insane cypherpunk haters for 10 years. Thus, my opinion of the security industry (and how it conducts itself or provides education) is very, very low.

I wish I could say something to redeem us, but there really are some pretty toxic elements in the community. However, things have improved in the last decade. We have many amazing, brilliant, funny, welcoming people and loads of us are trying hard to improve the culture.
