Watching a guy make a Rembrandt master copy and he’s making his own oil paint, even lead white and vermillion which are poisonous. He mashes in the pigments in the oil with no gloves or mask and then leaves the tops off the fucking jars of raw pigment. I keep staring at the jars.
Otherwise, mostly things in oil paint don't give off toxic fumes. Some people are sensitive to the smell, but oil paint is basically a food (nut oil). Solvents now don't give off much. The real exposure is getting it in/on your skin or in mouth/eyes.
