Better photo of the painting as promised using my very professional camera (Fuji GFX 50S) and better lighting. But, the 2nd photo is from the iPhone XS Max camera at 2x and adjusted for similar contrast. It does a decent job, if it is WAY too orange. Fuji totally nails it.pic.twitter.com/42CBCOIC53

Also the fuji image is 5870x8060 (52MP) pixels, on a tripod, with a 250mm telephoto lens and a circular polarizer and calibrated white balance. The fact that the iphone can come close to the scaled down fuji image with just 12MP is pretty amazing.

It really is amazing what phones are capable of these days, but when it comes to skin tones (paint or actual humans), Fuji mirrorless cameras are incredible.

I think what I find DUMB about the new iPhone is how they use "AI" to correct the color and image quality...but can't fix the lens distortion? I mean, it's a basic operation with no AI needed and my head looks like the Coneheads in every selfie.

if you look solely at the white paint, you'll see the Fuji OOC JPEG has a reddish tint, while the iPhone shot has pretty neutral white, so the Fuji must be applying some skin embellishment heuristics

That said, I edit my RAWs for a very slight reddish tint too, which I find gives nicer, less zombified skin tones. Not this reddish though
