I tried this technique of painting yourself while both you and the canvas face a mirror and it was awesome. A total mind fuck but you quickly get used to it. This was just 45 minutes alla prima.pic.twitter.com/Ejpowg4jhC

Better photo of the painting as promised using my very professional camera (Fuji GFX 50S) and better lighting. But, the 2nd photo is from the iPhone XS Max camera at 2x and adjusted for similar contrast. It does a decent job, if it is WAY too orange. Fuji totally nails it.pic.twitter.com/42CBCOIC53

Also the fuji image is 5870x8060 (52MP) pixels, on a tripod, with a 250mm telephoto lens and a circular polarizer and calibrated white balance. The fact that the iphone can come close to the scaled down fuji image with just 12MP is pretty amazing.

Oh that's super clever. So the thing your remapping is your motor control but you get side by side comparison as a benefit? How tricky was the first attempt?

Coordination is strange at first but not a big issue since it’s mostly the same direction. The biggest issue is you lose depth perception even with both eyes open so you can’t do delicate brush strokes or thin lines easily.
