The two philosophies of programming languages: 1. A lot of people will need X, therefore we should ship it as a standard part of the language. 2. A lot of people will need X, therefore it should be as easy as possible for them to roll their own X.

3. We fucked up and implemented X wrong so we’ll just convince everyone they really need X for (security|speed|scalability|soft skills). See Erlang SSA, Ruby everything, C++ classes, Java types, Python 3 not running 2, C UB, etc.
