I am totally against pardoning war criminals, but this tweet here is an epic load of bullshit. The military justice system is a complete joke and not even remotely fair. It’s usually used as a tool to reshape the military along political lines and I’ll explain how:https://twitter.com/glennkirschner2/status/1129944887225475077 …

He gets back to out unit and they start to throw him out. It used to be you could fail a school but nope, gotta meet the quotas. So the commander writes Glunt up with 1 offense: Failed a school Glunt signs this, and being a good supply clerk, keeps a copy. Then guess what?

He comes back a few weeks later to do his final exit—losing all benefits with only a year left—and goes to sign the final document, looks at his list of offenses, that he supposedly pled guilty to and: They added about 10 more *after* he signed. This is super illegal. Why?

He pled guilty to one crime, failing a school. But the base commander and his commander didn’t think it was enough AND Clinton had his quotas, so to meet quotas they just tacked on a bunch of extra shit and hoped he didn’t keep his copy. Oh, but Glunt was a supply clerk.

This is like you get arrested for being a billionaire pedo like Clinton’s buddy Epstein, and instead of getting some weird deal that only a Prince and former President could broker, you get 10 other crimes added on after the trial and go to jail for 20 extra years instead of 1.

Who did this to Glunt? Why, the supposedly bery fair and excellent Military Justice JAG officer and his commander. They got the papers with one crime, presented it to the JAG boss, he thought it wasn’t enough, then doctored the record to get Glunt nearly thrown in prison. What?

If he didn’t habe his copy he might have gone to jail over some fucking pushups because a crazy President had quotas on how many soldiers to throw out that year. Luckily he did, and in exchange for keeping quiet they hooked him up and cleaned his record. That’s military justice

The reason Military Justice is a joke as it’s run with almost zero oversight from external entities and judged by people in power who are motivated by promotions within the officer ranks, covering up war crimes by officers, and not actual justice. It’s barely any kind of court.

So while maybe these soldiers did commit war crimes, I’m going object to the idea that the military has any kind of justice system. It’s a kangaroo court that works for the President to reshape the military, and only sometimes works to catch and prosecute real crimes.
