Doing it from the Klingon perspective as they first encounter other races and having to deal with looking different. IIRC this was a retcon by Worf to explain why Klingons looked like everyone else during the original Star Trek series.
Worf in ST:NG doesn’t get into it, but it could be that encountering Vulcans and Romulans causes a craze to look like them and then an eventual civil war over being true Klingon. The Klingon purists win then start wars with Vulcans and Romulans for perceived revenge.
I think the official message is that some type of disease-ish swept across the Kilngon world and all it did was change their foreheads.
Maybe most of the space faring Klingson are into fighting, but I always wondered how they ever found time to develop space ships instead of killing. Also, they must have tons of kids, since they are always fighting and prefer death in battle.
