I’m enjoying Star Trek Discovery, but it seems like it’s mainly successful because it has a serious budget compared to other attempts. I definitely like that it’s focused on adventure and crisis rather than drama. It also really makes me want to see a show entirely about Klingons
I’m thinking a show about Klingons would have to be a dark comedy about them bumbling around the universe trying to establish their place in a universe full of dandies like Vulcans and Romulans. Play up the other races thinking they’re ugly brutes.
Doing it from the Klingon perspective as they first encounter other races and having to deal with looking different. IIRC this was a retcon by Worf to explain why Klingons looked like everyone else during the original Star Trek series.
Worf in ST:NG doesn’t get into it, but it could be that encountering Vulcans and Romulans causes a craze to look like them and then an eventual civil war over being true Klingon. The Klingon purists win then start wars with Vulcans and Romulans for perceived revenge.
