Painting/color friends: I know that "tinting" a color is lightening it with white (and shading is darkening with black). Is it also ok to say "tint/shade with red" to mean mixing a color with red? Do "tint with red" and "shade with red" mean different things?

Painting terminology is fairly random. I learned that a “tint” is an almost white color because you can’t just add white or black to get the color of what you see. I suggest this book: How to See Color and Paint It https://www.amazon.com/dp/1626540632/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Uhs1Cb4F3P4Q6 … to learn about color.
