I have an odd question for recovering addicts, that I've asked in the past but never really got much of an answer: I have never done any drugs, alcohol, nothing other than coffee. Do you think there's any value in an essay on what that's like but in an honest no-propaganda way?

My first impulse is “no” but I don’t know why.

Me too, but I think it’s because most of the writing about being sober is preachy, overly positive, and unrealistic.

Maybe you’re addicted to being sober? :)

Ahhh the classic programmer logical fallacy of false equivalence slippery slope. Next you’ll tell me that haskell and visual basic are exactly the same because they can add integers.

I‘ve recently been reading a bit about Straight Edge etc. and I‘d be very curious about your experience. Particularly the social aspect, but any facet would be interesting to me.

I think it would be very valuable. I have my issues with alcohol, but all the other stuff just never appealed to me. As long as it's written with a sympathetic/ or at least an understanding of people who are on that opposite side of that spectrum of you.

Don't really think this is well enough defined. How does it feel physically other than how people who do drugs feel when they're not high?
