The show does one very subtle thing with language that you think would make it less realistic but makes it more so. When Chinese are talking to Americans in English they have an accent. When English speakers overhear Chinese speakers it’s in Chinese and subtitles. But!

When Chinese speak Chinese to other Chinese they speak in a slang laden foul mouthed gangster style fluent English with a very American LA accent, which makes it easier for an American audience to get the gangster criminal feel of what they’re saying. It’s also very seamless.

But, the slang used incorporates a lot of Chinese offensive terms kind of “back translated”. Like “onion” when talking about other Chinese and “duck” when talking about whites. The show also does not try to whitewash away the racism SF has always had toward the Chinese.

Warrior though also has a lot of WTF over the top elements which makes it fun, but be warned if you’re a historian it will probably piss you off. For example, the main character’s Grandfather was American…which would be tough to explain. British is more believable.
