Doing a test of black and white pastel using the box and a white onion. Turns out it’s difficult to do Pastel because the pressure needed to apply the pastel is enough to move the box around.pic.twitter.com/nDvAsNsPNT

Turned out great, but I ment to ask earlier; why do you use the box as an easel??

Oh, *I* don't use the box as an easel. I have some nice ones I use since I go outside to paint all the time. This is for a different project.

I would rub my fingers raw smoothing oil pastels out and blending them. I can't imagine not doing pastels on a sturdy surface. Try flat instead of easel angle. Then you can plant it on a solid surface and blend them like a death rocker.
