I'm debating spending 3-6 months in Paris painting, but I'm not sure about the visa situation. I know I could get a Schengen 3 month visa, and then just get it again, but I'm curious if anyone has tips on getting a longer tourist visa, or even if there's an...artist visa?
I've looked into that too but it seems more difficult. Thanks for that option though, I didn't know about a VLS-T.

Hmm; French visas are a bit funny (Spanish ones for students are pretty straight forward). I'd contact an agency that does 'semester abroad' (also called FLE) -- France wants people to learn the french language. As long as the class is from one of the listed schools, should be ok

<not an expert, but familiar> I think you'll need to get an acceptance letter from an approved school (shouldn't cost too much if it's not a degree program and rather a cultural one), sign up for auxiliary private health insurance (inexpensive), and a couple more things.
