I have a set of Kalium strings on my Bass VI guitar that are *perfect* and I have absolutely no idea what gauge they are nor how the hell I could measure them short of buying a string gauge measuring tool of some kind.

Ok, I hear you but, ehem, guitars use fractions of inches as in 75 gauge is 0.075". Calipers I find are metric when they get that small because like...what real scientist is measuring shit that small in inches?

I have a cheapo micrometer from amazon that should get you that resolution in inches. I find all sorts of crazy uses for it

These things are a trip to use, but so cool once you get the hang of it

looks like this thing has .001” resolution, and might be easier to use. I’ve never used anything like it though https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GSLKIW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_AEumCbF21566R …
