Wait, I'm a little confused by this: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jan/03/police-reinforcements-for-northern-ireland-in-case-of-no-deal-brexit-1000-officers-training-trouble-hard-border … Is this saying that, should the UK hard Brexit, that they'd.....close off Northern Ireland from the rest of Ireland? That seems like a *very* bad idea.

AND, I suspect that Germany is getting ready for that given what Merkel has been negotiating and saying. Republic of Ireland is part of the EU, and the agreement allows mutual protection. N.Ireland voting to join, as allowed in GF, means Ireland can get EU help in NI.

If it happens without tanks and troops, maybe. But the UK does not have a good track record on that in Ireland for obvious geopolitical reasons.

mate, this would be completely insane, absolutely not realistic: at the very least german people would HATE it. EU army: there is no such thing, nobody fights for the EU, and nobody would start a war in Europe for something like this

I don’t think that’s missing something, I think that’s WW3 speculation with me having family in DUB, Berlin, NYC, Boston, and Paris. Not a game I want to play, yeah?
