Shocked that a corporation that uses child labour, sweatshop labour, and prison labour, to make horribly designed, low quality, hideously overpriced garments for the male gaze, has been found to be run by (checks notes) exploitative, predatory dickbags.

The USA’s oversight board that controls Puerto Rico’s money says the earthquakes that’ve left thousands homeless and exposed that Puerto Rico’s school buildings need a huge rehaul so kids don’t die says it sees nothing that merits lifting austerity.

Anzaldúa But the skin of the earth is seamless. The sea cannot be fenced, el mar does not stop at the borders. To show the white man what she thought of his arrogance, Yemayá blew that wire fence down.

The temporality or disaster is about life and death. This signals another 5 months. “FEMA Administrator Peter Gaynor told Vázquez...that her administration needs a plan to make sure thousands of people don't live in tents and other outdoor shelters when hurricane season starts.”

A guillotine at Plaza de las Delicia in quake-struck Ponce, Puerto Rico, where the relief supplies warehouse was found that blew up the scandal. Demonstrators are calling for the resignation of Ponce’s mayor () and the Governor ().

this whole thing is a nightmare. like as a writer, my biggest fear is that i write something so harmful that the people i love and offer my work to are HARMED. hurt. maligned. stereotyped. not like butt hurt white supremacists but like my people. that haunts me.

FEMA recognized Puerto Rico schools could collapse in an earthquake, but cut funds for repairs. This is why Puerto Ricans trust NEITHER federal nor local government and feel that we can only count on ourselves.

“In this street in Guánica, Puerto Rico, almost all houses were left like this. ‘This was a neighborhood full of children, of people. There’s nobody left. Just as I’m here trying to salvage what little I have, all these people fled with what they salvaged,’ a neighbor told me.”

This writer wrote a fake ass social justice book. Don't read it because it a) the pinche book sucks and b) it will turn you stupid. Do, however, read my bitchy critique

Quick reminder that corruption is a natural product of colonialism—this has been well-documented in post-colonial nations from sub-Saharan Africa to Latin America. You can’t talk about government mismanagement in Puerto Rico without recognizing its status as a U.S. colony.
