    I love this: LAPD’s union explicitly says the first thing they’d cut is 911 response times and rape investigations, not the millions they spend on military machinery and spying. They agree with us: their purpose is never protecting communities.

    Cutting the budget means longer responses to 911 calls; officers calling for backup won’t get it; rape, murder & assault investigations won’t occur or will take forever to complete. An arbitrary cut of $150m will have a huge impact on our community.

    Today I learned... The white man in this photo was Peter Norman from Australia who finished 2nd the 1968 200m final. Norman stood in solidarity with the American Black athletes. It was Norman who suggested, when discovered they only had 1 pair of gloves, to each wear one. (cont)

    Bone spur issues

    The ramp that I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery. The last thing I was going to do is “fall” for the Fake News to have fun with. Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!

    I can't imagine why more cops don't want to become whistleblowers.

    That time nypd ordered a swat raid on the apartment of an officer who reported officer misconduct; they abducted him and institutionalized him in a mental health facility for 6 days. NYPD made some commemorative memerabilia to celebrate the occasion.

    Toronto’s shortfall isn’t because of 3 months of Covid. It’s because of 30 years of unwillingness to discuss with its residents what the things they say they want cost. It’s because they moan and whine annually about each 1/4 % when really, that amounts to a few per household.
