They could hold that the arrest was illegal. NAB/another state institution could (quite likely) arrest IK again on another charge. Any broad relief by the SC will be extraordinary; the speed and developments so far in this case already are not what a regular citizen sees.

Is Supreme Court going to decide IK's arrest was illegal based on "legal technicalities" (shout out to @mayursuresh's excellent book that discusses this concept), i.e., the arrest happened on IHC premises, warrant was not shown, NAB officials weren't present.

All eyes on the Supreme Court as it forms a three member bench to hear IKs case today. BENCH: CJ Bandial, Justice Mazhar, Justice Minallah

People taking to the streets is not new either. Social media, violence, and amplification of protests/violence through social media is the new thing.

None of what's happening in Pakistan against Imran Khan & the PTI is new. The military establishment is following its old playbook. The difference is in the response: the context around them has changed. Khan's supporters are willing to take to the streets, there's social media.

Talking to the media, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says the PTI had decided that if IK were to be arrested, their response would not be political.

Absolutely NOTHING justifies this arbitrary restriction on our right to access the internet. This is pure and simple anti-people, anti-freedom of speech/expression/right to information. Bring back 4G, restore access to social media sites. Stop behaving like five-year-olds.

"With the ISPR statement, a govt already increasingly being seen as a B Team, may ve to defend the indefensible. Is it up to the task? Is the 'one page' being scotch-taped back into existence? Will the Faustian bargain help or hurt the democratic process?"

"The PTI has walked down a rather blind alley – & its usual saviours r either on the opposite side or retired or redundant. Will the PTI’s travails lead to a minus-one formula? Will minus-one even work for a party that operates more as a personality cult?"

Our edit: "Seen as the ultimate blue-eyed boy of the state, Imran managed to not only embrace but also cultivate a new kind of adherence to nationalism, something our state institutions ve always aspired to inspire...this zeal made PTI rallies more potent"

I talked to and on what they think of the PTI as yet not openly condemning the violence that has gone on the past two days. IN brief: party seems to be in a damned if they do, damned if they don't situation.

It is scary because the nuclear launch codes are in a Danish butter biscuits tin that was in one of the residences that got looted in the protests and now we can’t find it.

What’s happening right now in Pakistan is truly scary. Don’t forget, Pakistan is a nuclear power. And Imran Khan won the last election. It’s a tinderbox. twitter.com/kenroth/status…

Why hurt the only thing that helps the people? There's already precious little our govts do for the people.

ISPR has also said in its statement that it has identified all those behind the unrest and action will be taken. Says the military did not take action yesterday bec it did not want things to escalate. Says a mature response [by the mil] helped defeat the anti-army planning.

In a statement, ISPR has said May 9 will be remembered as a 'black chapter' in our history. Says planned attacks were launched on military targets, and anti-army slogans were used after Imran's arrest, and people's sentiments were used for vested interests.

Its raining audios! Can't keep up now. Essentially, the story goes: the PTI [seemingly] knew about/ was part of the attack on the CC House etc.

PTI workers had a recorded space last night where they were taking people on call from different locations and asking them what was happening - it's interesting how the leadership is trying to back track and say it wasn't PTI workers.
