I realized last night that "back to normal someday" has evaporated for me as a concept. Wouldn't matter if a vaccine arrived tomorrow. I don't remember how to do normal anymore.

That's the thing. The world has changed in a permanent way. Some of it will be for the better, some of it not so much. Sounds like another day in the life of homo sapiens :)

Interestingly, from another perspective, I have friends in Albania that once the lockdown was over, it was exactly the same normal as before

I don't think "Andrew Plotkin, what a normal guy," anyway. "What's normal for Andrew Plotkin?", I ask myself. "Probably has a network of tunnels under his house." Maybe the tunnel system was designed by domesticated ants. Maybe there's a mapparium. Sounds good, anyway.

Pretty sure normal involves a bright yellow rain suit, five car batteries, and a bucket of sasparilla topped with whip creme.

I live in Berlin, and the numbers here keep going into "manageable"; I'm still having trouble feeling normal and not thinking about distancing all the time. I'm very frustrated when I walk past bars or restaurants. I'm right there with you. Normal is a long way off.
