This. Swedish game schools, I’ve heard the stories, and this is certainly not a Digipen- or US-only problem. Fix your shit.https://twitter.com/haikus_by_kn/status/1044889365963526145?s=21 …

A piece of trivia - I almost went to such a game school, ranked places of study arbitrarily between physics at KTH, CS at UmU and a game school in Skövde.

Ended up with a decent CS degree up here and a solid job in HPC. I occasionally ponder how things would be if I went professional gamedev, but it doesn't seem attractive from a life balance perspective.

Nope, it’s not great. And a dedicated games degree is a great way to end up unemployable elsewhere, not recommended when the whole thing is that unstable.

I wonder how it goes for the people up in Skellefteå with their game school branch of LTU. I see them in the news occasionally but not much since Magicka.

No clue. Didn’t work with many game school grads as a coder, it was a whole lot of KTH / LiU people.

Even outside of games it's not exactly uncommon to forget about the thesis report when you're exposed to the real world, but I don't doubt that it's even worse in games.

I should know I guess, I did mine as a literature survey around efficient techniques for drawing a ton of animated meshes. Took my time finishing it up but I got my degree in the end :D
