Wow, Dead Cells is really good at making dying over and over again feeling non-frustrating. It keeps giving me smaller goals, so a run can feel like a success even though I'll inevitably die hundreds of times more before I beat this game.
I found it a bit too meh when you had longer runs, as you either were gimped and were slowly losing, or went well into new content in which you suddenly just die without knowing why. It might have improved since Early Access, of course, but the length of a run felt too long.

I'm OK with it, I always seem to progress toward unlocking a new weapon, finding something new in the world, or other nice stuff. I didn't play it in the Early Access days, so no idea how much it changed.

It was indeed quite fun in the beginning, figuring out the systems and getting better at it incrementally.

Knowing myself, I think I'll stop once I've beaten the game if that doesn't turn out to be impossibly frustrating. I'm not into score runs, and like having a final goal for the game.

Not overly keen on <redacted complex fight> pretty much murdering you while you have no idea how it works when you have to slog for a good hour to get there, typically over several sessions.
