Critics who think Amazon is killing retail should talk to the millions of businesses/products that were rejected by retail gatekeepers and only exist today because of Amazon’s ‘infinite shelf space.’
Amazon will make some products, sure. But it’s a myth that that’s the whole purpose. Amazon makes *a lot* of money off of Marketplace as it is, and it can’t ever hope to make everything.

Private labels from retailers such as Amazon/Carrefour/Tesco never make a product, they have no factories. They outsource, imposing the specs from their sales data. Then they push the incumbent out via promos & discounts. Been there, done it. It's deadly.

Pure coincidence,
@Recode talks about Amazon private labels (only 70 of the 800+ registered). Surprise! Amazon now sells more than 70 of its own private-label brandshttps://www.recode.net/2018/4/7/17208804/amazon-private-label-brands-list?utm_campaign=www.recode.net&utm_content=entry&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter …
