I'm arguing that there's little evidence that Amazon has led to a proliferation of *new* goods that can be sold at a volume high enough to sustain the business but low enough they couldn't succeed 20 years ago.

Another back of the envelope calculation here is that Amazon US retail sales are in the $75-100B range, so the average SKU *that sells* has $7-10K k sales, which is not enough to make a living.
