Yes, that's because they can't control their inventory because it's self-service. There's tremendous duplication. The median SKU has zero sales in the past 2 years, zero product recommendations, zero reviews, may not even have a product image on file, etc

I hear what you’re saying, but it’s extraordinarily unlikely that there aren’t a substantial number of unique or improved items when there is 7,100x the selection.

Actual ASINs sold is maybe 2-4 million first party, maybe 10 million including third party. I don't know what share of that is media, which bloats the number over a retail store. But there's no real revenue in the tail.
