It’s crazy how the falsehood “Facebook sells your data” is a nearly universally-accepted truth amongst smart, otherwise-rigorous non-tech people.

Understood, but what evidence do we have that Facebook is not selling our data. It seems like we need to have some as the opposing argument seems to have quite a bit.

"what evidence do we have that Facebook is not selling our data?" seems a bit backwards to me. It can't be disproven. It's like asking "what evidence do we have that Amazon is not developing nuclear weapons?"
