Instead of writing an anti-NIMBY op-ed, someone should take one for the team and heap praise on negative effects of NIMBYism. E.g. “I’m voting for [anti-housing candidate X] because they will raise property values, keep poor people out of our city,” etc.
Seems like a handful of outspoken ‘villains’ like this could make it very uncomfortable for people to be anti-housing.
"I don't like young people and want under-30's at least 10km's away from my house at all times... I'm levered to the hilt and don't want to see any housing price decrease that could hit my LVR covenant etc."
