Nonviolent Communication is one of the five books changed my personal operating system. Design of Everyday Things is absolutely amazing, though it makes you hate interacting with almost every physical object in the world.

Agreed on Design of Everyday Things having an impact. What's funny is I read it about 10 years ago, didn't really like it, but now I see concepts like affordances everywhere and can't turn that off.
