My read is that this applies to technology vendors (EDI, BI, etc), not to physical product suppliers.

We were approached by retail analytics provider...as per their contracts w retailers, their subcontractors can't use AWS. Totally nuts.
We'll end up building parallel Azure infrastructure at some point, which will cause a minor dev mutiny.

Servers, storage - not a huge deal. The problem comes in duplicating AWS Lambda, SQS, Aurora, etc.

Sounds like it is less motivated by 'hurting a competitor' and more motivated by fear of spying. Which is even crazier.
